Marra took Jazz and Ballet from Thomas studio of Performing Arts this year. In May they had their end of the year recital. Marra did wonderfully!

Kieran went up stairs and was up there for a long while, so I went up to check on him, I went in his room, he was not there, I checked the bathroom, not there either, I looked in Aislin's room, no Kieran, I looked in my room, and snuggled into my covers and pillows was a sleeping Kieran all bundled up with his blanket, his baby doll and one of Aislin's blankets for his baby doll.

Easter was wonderful! We spent the morning at home, then headed to church where the kids sang in the service. After church we went to my parents house and spent the day with them as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Hopefully I will be getting some pictures from the rest of the gang (hint hint, Mom, Bre, Kelly, Jen) to add as well, but here are mine.

Long Time

wow I have been horrible about posting lately. Well we are all healthy and happy right now. At the beginning of March Aislin had tubes put in her ears and is doing much better now. She is constantly making noise, talking, laughing, screaming in delight. She has 6 teeth and has two more coming in on the bottom. She crawls now but would much rather walk, although she hasn't gotten the whole balance thing down yet, so every time she starts to take off on her own she takes a header. At the end of March Marra had cheerleading nationals, she took home two national titles!! She has gotten so tall in the last few months, I can't believe it. She has her first dance recital coming up at the end of May. Last week Marra brought home her 3rd report card for the school year, she got all As again!!! Kieran is as sweet and as much of a monster as always. He is also growing way to quickly. He thinks he needs to be talking at all times, he even talks in his sleep sometimes. I am working at the gym still and also working for Brentwood Pres. church as the jr./sr.high youth director. Scott is still teaching 4th grade for Keystone Oaks as well as coaching at the gym. We are super super busy the next few months,I look at my calender and shudder at the thought of how much is going on, but then again we would be bored if we didn't have so much to do.
I posted some pics for the last few weeks, I will post more from this coming weekend later next week.

After all the hoopla of Marra's birthday and holding two parties on the same day Sunday was a breath of fresh air.

Sunday was as close to a perfect day as I have ever had.

We slept in and were woken up by Marra and Kieran crawling into bed with us. We have Kieran in bed with us a lot, but not too often does Marra cuddle with us any more. Shortly after Aislin woke up and we had the whole family in bed.

When we got up we saw that we had gotten a nice amount of snow over night. After taking our good old time getting ready Scott and Kieran went out and cleaned off the cars and we headed over to Mamma Lou and Pappy Jim's house.

We played out in the snow for a long time coming in to make old fashion cocoa. Scott and Mamma Lou made dinner and then we sat in front of the fire place and watched the Steelers Win!

Like I said as close to perfect as I could want,

We had a great Christmas!

Shortly before Christmas we got to meet new addition Judah

And of course we made cookies with Mama Lou

We went to church on Christmas Eve. Marra was in the early family service as a shepard and had a small talking part. She also sang with the children's choir and sang a solo. Kieran slept through the whole service but both Kieran and Marra stayed awake for the 11 o'clock service.

We had Grandma Margie and Pap pap Dick over Christmas Eve.

Marra got a My Twin Doll and Kiearn got Thomas train stuff

Santa came and Christmas morning was wonderful.

We then spent the rest of the day at Mamma Lou and Pappy Jim's house and got to see all but one of our cousin's for Christmas, (we missed you Alex, Uncle Kevin, and Aunt Erin)

I got the flu a few days after Christmas and we missed out on the Moreau and McCracken family Christmas parties, thank you Aunt Renee for the kids sweat shirts. I did not get out of bed for two days straight.

Luckily we did still get to see the South Carolina branch before they headed back. It was great seeing our favorite little red head Emma, as well as Aunt Smoochie, Marc, and Michelle.

Life after Thanksgiving

Life after Thanksgiving has been busy busy busy.

Like the rest of America we are struggling with money and needed to come up with an inexpensive option for Christmas. We have 8 nephews and nieces plus about 12-15 adults that we like to give gifts to for Christmas. We also like to get our cheerleaders something, and this year we have 37 of those. So as you can see we were in a bit of a pickle trying to figure out what to do to make it a great Christmas.

One of my friends suggested painting dishes. So off to Ikea I went. I ended up painting 12 4 piece sets for nieces, nephews, my three kids, and a family friend. I also painted 7 glass plates for the important women in our lives and both sets of parents. To add to that I painted 2 beer mugs and a wine glass. To top it off I painted 37 hot chocolate mugs for my cheerleaders plus 8 additional ones for the level 7,8, and 9 gymnasts at the gym.

Our "fat cat" Andy died this weekend. She has been heart broken since Jakey died. She stopped eating and was really going down hill. It kind of reminds me of an old married couple who have been married forever and pass with in months of eachother. We always joked that Jake and Andy were husband and wife.

14 pounds and counting

So from the title you might have thought this blog was going to be talking about Aislin. Well you were wrong. Aislin is up in the 15 lb. mark, but at 5 months old she has only put on 7 pounds since she was born (she weighed a little over 8lbs coming home from the hospital). No this blog is about Marra. Last January Marra weighed 64 lbs and looked great, she was also in the gym 6 days a week cheering and tumbling. The picture below is from last cheer season when she was right around 64 lbs.

If you read back over my blogs, Marra was down to 54 lbs in June after all her medical problems.

Below is a picture taken on the 4th of July. She was so skinny she looked unhealthy.

The next picture was at the beach about a month and a half later, she was starting to put on weight at this time, but still was too skinny.

Tonight she just happened to put on the same swim suit to go in Mama Lou and Pappy Jim's hot tub. She looks so much healthier! She is up to 68 lbs!! That is 14 lbs in 5 months!

She has yet to put all her muscle definition back, and we are only in the gym 2 days a week this year. But she is healthy and happy. She has also grown 2 inches in the past 3 months and gone up 2.5 shoes sizes.

Kieran Update

Kieran went in for his esophageal scope and colonoscopy yesterday.

He had these tests done because he has been having blood and mucus in his stool and he has been having a lot of acid reflux again (he was on meds for this from 6 months old until 1 and a half). We did two stool analyses and a blood test before scheduling the procedures, all came up negative, which pretty much just told us that all his organs were functioning correctly and that he did not currently have any bacterial infections. The GI thought the most plausible cause of his problems was colon polyps.

So Tuesday was lots of fun. We had to do a colonoscopy prep, which consisted of shoving laxatives down Kieran's throat all day long and then cleaning liquid pooh diapers every 10 minutes. Good Fun.

The esophageal scope showed the upper part of his stomach is red, inflamed, and irritated. The colonoscopy showed that there were no polyps, which is wonderful! No cancer, no Crohns! But all the lymph nodes in his colon are swollen.

The swelling causes bleeding and mucus every time poop slides over it and irritates the lymph nodes.

The lymph nodes are swollen for one of two reasons. The first he had an intestinal bacterial infection and the lymph nodes are still swollen because of the infection, or he has food allergies that are aggravating the lymph nodes.

So we get to have him on a laxative to make his pooh soft to keep from irritating the lymph nodes until we figure out exactly what is going on. She took biopsies the entire way up and down so that she can figure out what is going on. We should have those result by the end of next week.

Busy Weekend

We kicked off the weekend with Trick or Treating on Friday night - see below for pics.

Saturday Marra had her first party with 9 friends from school and the gym over to watch movies and eat tons of junk food! The girls seemed to have a good time and they all got along wonderfully!

Marra's girlfriend Tabby spent the night and they decided to get up at 6:30 AM, thinking it was 7:30 (because that is so much better) since we had the time change.
Sunday morning we had Sunday school and church and the kids sang in church

We then went to Mama Lou and Pappy Jim's and hung out for the afternoon

Good thing Marra had off school today so we got to lay around and recover from our weekend!

Well here they are, they are so much fun, I have had kittens before but I don't think I have ever had two at the same time. Our 4 year old cat Cassie is still having some issues accepting them, but they are doing great. These pics are from a few weeks ago and they are even bigger now.

Oh my Kier boy is a joy. I love being able to stay home during the days with him. He comes up with something new everyday and is constantly making me laugh. His favorite word is Cool, he has been pooping on the potty all by himself the last few weeks and once in a while he will pee on it too!

Yesterday was an especially cute Kieran day. We were walking out the door to take Marra to school and he tells me he has to poop, I told him that he was just going to have to go in his pants because we didn't have time to sit him on the potty and get Marra to school on time (Kieran is a 15 minute sitter if you know what I mean). The whole way to and from school he kept saying "sorry mama" because he pooped his pants, poor baby.
A little after we got home from taking Marra I presented him with new slippers, Cool. After I helped him get them on I started to walk away from him to go do something else, he came running up to me and gave my legs a huge hug.
I had something to do in the afternoon so Kieran and Aislin were going over to my friend Christine's house until Scott could get them. Christine also watches a little boy named Jack. I told Kieran he was going to play with Jack (who he's met before), he was so excited. I didn't want him crying for Christine when I left so I kept talking to him through out the afternoon before we left. He said "play Jack" and I said "Yes but mommy can't stay. You're not going to cry are you?" Kieran says "Bye Mamma", ok, I think, lets hope this goes well.
Kieran then disappears upstairs to his bedroom for a while. I heard him coming down the steps, then running through the dinning room, he jumped through to the living room and yells "Ahrge" he had dressed up like a pirate and wanted to go to play with Jack looking like a pirate.
We got to Christine's and I unbuckled Kieran from the car, while I was getting Aislin out Kier crawls out of the van and says "Bye Mamma" and starts up Christine's steps. He had never been to Christine's house and although he spent a lot of time with her when he was a baby I'm sure he didn't really remember her, but he wasn't going to cry because he was going to play with Jack, he didn't need me, it's one of those bitter sweet moments.

Scott's cousin Alisha got married this past weekend to her long time honey Dax. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony and we had tons of fun at the reception! We got to spend some time with Scott's brother Kevin and his family, Alexa wasn't real sure how to take Marra and Kieran (they have only met twice before this weekend).

Scott and I both have pretty large extended families, all though I am only one of three kids and Scott is only one of two kids our parents have lots of siblings, so that makes for lots of cousins and it seems like we all have our kids with in months of each other.

Now this is not a complete list of the kids in the family, I am not including any of the Mizikar extended side, it seems like there are 50 million Mizikars and we don't see them as much as we see the other three branches of our family, I'm not saying they aren't important or that they are unloved, it's just I don't have their info and as I said we don't see them much.

I am going to use Marra as our starting point:

Brandon was also born around the same time as my cousin Tim's youngest son Owen (unfortunately I was unable to chase down Neiva, Maive, or Owen's exact birthdays)

One year later we had another baby boom:

Everett James 3-18, Scott's cousin Eddie's second
Isaiah Joseph 5-17, my sister Bre's second

The next year saw an even bigger baby boom:

Just some interesting facts about the above, 4 of the 6 babies born that year were in Scott's mom's family, 3 of those 4 were all from Scott's mom's brother's sons, 2 of those 3 came from a set of twin brothers. Racheal is the younger sister of James Caleb 11-21 born around the same time as my cousin Tim's second daughter Maive.

I guess we all decided to take a break in 2007 because there were no new babies born in 2007.

Aislin is the only one in this group that has a sibling of the opposite sex, Payton has big sister Bailee, Benjamin has big bro Zack, Kyle has big brothers Alex and Ryan, and baby boy T will be the fourth boy for Bre (Elijah, Isaiah, and Jo-Jo).
Aislin and Benjamin had due dates only days apart and were both supposed to be delivered by scheduled c-section only days apart with Benjamin being born on July 2 and Aislin being born on July 3, but Aislin decided she wanted to be born before Benjamin. And once again twins Mike and Marty had sons only months apart.

I don't want anyone to feel left out so I will mention the fact that my cousin John has four kids that are all older, Jocelyn (who was born months apart from my cousin Kyle), Hillary, Natalie, and Aaron. And Scott's cousin Terri has two girls not listed, Eden Genivieve and Amber Danielle (who was born right in between my cousins Noah and Evan)

Who knows what the future holds for more babies, but I have a feeling there will be more, heck Scott's cousin Alisha is getting married this weekend!

But out of all these kids no two were born on the same day, even in a different year. There are also no birthdays in Feb. or Sept.

Cartwheel - a - thon

Marra will be taking part in a cartwheel-a-thon on the morning of September 13th. The gymnastics center Scott and I coach for and Marra takes lessons from is celebrating National Gymnastics day by raising money for the Downs Syndrome Center of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Special Olympics.

Marra will see how many cartwheels she can do in a minute to help support a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, Scott and I started a special needs cheerleading team, the Super Heroes, last year at the gym, please feel free to check out the gym's web site for some pics and info on this team, www.gymsportathleticcenter.com.

Marra started 2nd grade today, I can't believe my baby is in 2nd grade. She was very excited to be back at school, Kieran not so much, he loved having her home over the summer.

Aislin is getting baptised on Oct. 12th at Brentwood Presby Church, Brownsville Rd. The service starts at 11, we will then have lunch at my parents house in Finleyville. If you are available to join us that Sunday we would love to have you celebrate with us.

The first stop on our tour through the Zoo is a female Shae Bug-a-boo, this animal is the oldest member of her species: Careful it's feeding time

The next animal we will be meeting was acquired by the zoo shortly after the Shae Bug-a-boo. This animal is a female faticuss caticuss:

Common name: Andromeda

Third on the tour schedule is in the same family as the faticuss caticuss but is a smaller, more active cousin known as the obnoxious caticuss:

Common name: Cassiopeia (female)

The fourth is the most wild of our collection, often mistaken for a pterodactyl because of it's loud screeching call. Kierboy Monstrosity: Watch your fingers it bites

Our fifth stop is a LiniKait Sleepallthetime, she has only been at our zoo for just under two months: It may look small and docile but it can take down MUCH larger animals

The next two exhibits on the tour both house two of each species. Both are brand new exhibits to the Mizikar Zoo.

Yes we are crazy. A stray cat had kittens in our shed and then left them. We started with 5 and only 2 have survived over the past 3 and weeks. So we are keeping the two that are left, if they survive. And last summer when we were at the beach Marra asked if she could get a hermit crab or frogs, she picked the hermit crab. Well the stinky old hermit crab has been living at Mama Lou's house and is still alive, and this year when we were making plans to go back to the beach she asked if she could get the frogs for at our house, and of course like the sucker I am, I told her she could, if she paid for them. So we now have two cats, two kittens, and two dwarf frogs. The frogs don't have names yet and we don't know if they are male or female. We are open to any suggestions you might have.

Pawley's 2008

We just got back from beautiful Pawley's Island South Carolina. Mom and I took the three kids down for a short vacation and to pick up Aunt Kathy and Emma Grace. The five of us stayed with Aunt Kathy - thanks Aunt Smoochie! We had a really nice long weekend getting to spend lots of time with Aunt Kathy and getting to see quite a bit of Marc and Michelle and Emma. The beach was wonderful, as always, we were only there for four days but it was an action packed four days, going to the beach, getting stung by jellyfish, going to the pool, visiting Ripley's aquarium, buying frogs. Here is a slide show from our trip, sorry it might be boring to some of you it's mostly just of Marra and Kieran, but hey I think they are cute.

It has been about a month and a half since Marra and Kieran had their tonsils and adenoids taken out. Both kids have put on some weight! Kieran is talking up a storm is and is more understandable now, he has also grown 3 inches in the last 6 months! Marra also had an esophageal scope and biopsies done at that time because of her weight loss and stomach issues. The biopsies were clean but the scope did show that the bottom of her esophagus is swollen and irritated. She is now on two acid reflux meds a day with the hopes that by the new year she will be completely off of reflux meds! In the past month she has put back on 5 of the pounds she had lost since January, she has also grown about 2 inches in the last 2 months.

If you remember Marra had surgery to untwist her right ovary in early May. When we went to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was going ok with that they found something wrong with her kidneys. We went back for a recheck yesterday and they did another ultrasound series.

They don't think her kidneys and bladder are emptying completely when she pees and her kidneys look a bit swollen. So we go on Wednesday for another test, a voiding cystourethrogram. Hopefully this will determine what is going on there. It could be nothing but they want to check it out just to make sure.

So if you could please continue to keep Marra in your prayers. Once we have the results I will post again and let you all know what is going on with my Marra Shae.

My Aislin girl is a month old now.
One month olds aren't real fun yet, as Marra is remembering from Kieran and as Kieran is finding out.

Kieran still calls her baby instead of Aislin, but I think he just does it to be difficult because he can say Aislin, sort of, and he says Lini very well. He is always saying, "Baby Dance" "Baby Clap" "Baby eat popcorn". I'm not sure if he just doesn't get it yet or if he is being funny or if he is just trying to get a rise out of Marra, which he does very well.

Marra is still totally infatuated with Aislin and thinks she is both Aislin and Kieran's second mother, cuddling and loving on Aislin, feeding her and holding her, and completely on the other end of the scale with Kieran, bossing him and yelling at him, telling him no and grabbing things out of his hands that he's not supposed to have.

Aislin was just at the Dr. this week for her one month check up, she is doing great! Not only has she put on a pound since birth but she has also grown 3 inches in length! She is starting to hold her head up and she has rolled herself over from back to belly a few times now. I know I know, as I said at the beginning one month olds aren't a whole lot of fun, but because I'm just a little biased, I think she is amazing!

We spent a few days in the D.C. area. There was a Chiari conference that Mom and I attended and we then spent some time being tourists. It was Scott and the kids' first time. We didn't get to do as much as we would have liked so Scott is already planning our next trip down there, when we'll have time I'm not sure but...

Let's try to stuff as much as we can into the end of June

Well Marra and Kieran had their tonsils out on Thursday June 26th. Things went well. Marra also had a scope done of her esophagus, intestines, and stomach. She has inflammation of her esophagus and stomach. They are not sure what is causing the inflammation, they did biopsies while they were in there and we will have the results in two to three weeks. The ENT told me that Marra had the largest tonsils of the day and Kieran had the second largest of the day. Marra's adenoids were also so large they were blocking her nasal passage.
Both kids spent the night in the hospital and came home Friday. Marra did amazing with drinking and pain management, Kieran was having a bit of a problem with all of that until just last night, Monday, when he started to really start to drink and be himself again.

Both kids have 3 weeks of rest and soft foods before they can get back to normal.

On Friday night June 27h, my water broke. We went to the hospital and they wanted to try to wait until the morning when there was a full staff on to deliver the baby. I was scheduled to have a c-section on July 3rd but the baby had other ideas. So at 7:15am on Saturday June 28th I went in for a c-section. At 7:43am Aislin Kaiti Mizikar entered the world weighing in at 8lb 11oz and 19 inches long.

She is healthy and happy with a full head of dark hair, yes I said dark hair, but other than the dark hair she looks just like Marra and Kieran did as babies.

The pediatrician told me that if she had been born term she would have weighed in around 10 lbs.

We just got home this morning and we are resting.

We are off and running with summer!

Kieran turned 2 on May 11th and had family over to celebrate with an amazing choo choo cake made by Mama Lou. Kieran is really into Choo Choos lately.

The weekend after Kieran's party we went to celebrate Isaiah's 5th birthday with a Piratey party! Our little Peanut doesn't really get called Peanut any more :(

The weekend after Isaiah's party Scott, Pappy Jim, Mama Lou, and I were going to take Marra, Elijah, Isaiah, Jo Jo, and Kieran to a Pirates baseball game. A stomach bug knocked out Mama Lou and Kieran from going. And it was just too hot for me. So Pappy and Scott ended up taking the three older kids. They got to ride on the T and then ride the Gateway clipper across the rivers. Before the game they cooled off in water sculptor along the river walk outside of the ball park.

We have also been riding bikes and swimming up a storm!

We got Marra's report card in the mail this week. She did amazing! All A's with nothing lower than a 97% in all subjects. She will not find out who her 2nd grade teacher is until the end of summer but she already knows who she wants, so she's keeping her fingers crossed.

We have a week left before the kid's get their tonsils out, June 26th. To add to it, Marra will be getting an esophageal scope and biopsies of her esophagus, intestines, and stomach done while she is under anesthetic. Both kids will be home bound for at least a week if not two depending on how they are healing.

Monday the 23rd I go to the Dr. to set the date for the c-section. We will keep you posted. When I was at 33 weeks we had an ultra sound done, they said the baby was 5 lbs and 11 oz at that point, most average unborn babies don't hit the 5 lb mark until around 35 weeks. I am miserable, I spend most of my time in bed or on the couch because I am having such issues with my kidneys and muscle and ligament strains, but it will all be worth it once I get to hold our new baby!

I had both kids at the ENT yesterday. Marra has had strep 5 times since October, she also has large tonsils and sleep apnea. Kieran has had strep 2 times since December, has extremely large tonsils and rather bad sleep apnea.
June 26th both kids will get their tonsils and adenoids out. Kieran will definitely have to stay over night because he is so young, the Dr. said he doesn't even really like to do children Kieran's age but because of all of Kieran's symptoms put together he thinks Kieran needs to have the surgery. Marra most likely will not have to spend the night.

As of now my c-section is scheduled for July 9th. I go to the OB tomorrow and we shall see if that changes or not.

Before all of that, Marra goes back to the surgeon who did her ovarian torsion at the beginning of June. She also sees a stomach specialist mid June because her acid reflux has gotten worse, plus she has lost 4 lbs since January (another 2 lbs while she was in the hospital over Mothers day).

Twisted Weekend

Thursday night I went to bed around 11 and was woken up around 12 by Marra. She was crying and writhing in pain. The right side of her abdomen was hurting her and the pain was going down her leg. After trying unsuccessfully to comfort her and get her back to sleep in my bed, I decided we needed to call the Dr., thanks to my sister Bre I know what the symptoms of appendicitis are and we were worried that might be what we were dealing with. The Dr. office told us to go straight to Childrens hospital ER. Before we left I jokingly told Marra that this better be something more than just her poop shoot being blocked up. A few years ago she was having similar pain in the middle of the night, we went to Childrens to be sent home with a laxative and the diagnosis of constipation.

We got to the Emergancy Department around 1:30. Marra's pain was coming and going, she would writhe around in pain and then be just fine. She had also started to vomit. They did say they wanted to rule out constipation so they did an x-ray, she was blocked up, so they gave her an enema. Scott and I weren't satisfied with this answer. After the enema we asked that they look at her further because she was still in so much pain. After speaking with several Dr.s they decided to admit her to the hospital for observation, in case it was her appendix.

1:30 Friday afternoon (12 hours after getting to the ER), we were placed in a room on the inpatient critical surgery floor.

All day Friday the Dr.s just kept telling us they now thought it was gastrointestinal. So in other words a stomach virus in her intestines. That answer wasn't doing it for us either. Marra was still vomiting and she was now saying the pain was worse when she peed and radiating down her leg worse and into her back, but all still on the right side.

I asked the Dr. if we could explore the idea of it being her kidney, since these are similar to the symptoms I have with my kidney problems. Around 10pm Friday they decided to send her for a CT scan to rule out appendicitis and to also check her kidneys and her ovaries and all that other stuff down there. The initial read of the CT was clear but they wanted the head of radiology to check it out on Saturday.

Saturday we waited and waited and waited. Around 7pm Saturday we were told that the CT did show that her right ovary was larger than her left and they wanted to do an ultra sound on her pelvic area. Once again around 10pm we were taken for testing.

When we got back to our room after the ultra sound we were told that our Dr. would not be able to come up to talk with us until very late or even in the morning because the ER was slammed with 5 traumas. And if they had found something on the ultra sound they would have already been up to talk with us. Scott decided to go home and get some sleep. Around 1 the Dr. came in and woke me up to tell me that they did find something on the ultra sound and they would be taking her in for emergency surgery in the next 2 to 3 hours. I tried to call Scott, he was so sound asleep he was not hearing the phone ring. I decided to call my Mom and Dad to see if one of them could go to my house to wake up Scott. While I was on the phone with my Mom, they came back in to say they were taking Marra right away instead of waiting the 2 hours.

Once Marra and I got down to the surgery floor we were told the Drs thought that Marra's right ovary was twisting and untwisting and they wanted to go in and put a stitch in the ovary to hold it in place. At this point they were not sure if her ovary was even viable anymore because when it was in the twisted position it would not be getting any blood. They also did not know what shape they would find her left ovary in once they got in there. They might have to stitch the left ovary as well. The stitches would hopefully cause scar tissue that would then hold the ovaries in place indefinitely. The Dr told me she was worried about future fertility problems for Marra.

From 2am to 3:30 am was one of the longest hour and halfs of my life. Scott and Mom made it to the hospital shortly after they took Marra in. Together we waited, cried, prayed, and cried some more.

Around 3:30 the Dr. came in and said everything went really well. Marra's left side looked great, her right side was twisting and untwisting itself but it was still pink and looked very viable. They placed one stitch in the right ovary to hold it in place and now it is just a wait and see if the scar tissue builds up to hold it in place once the stitch dissolves. The right fallopian tube was very stretched out and they are not sure how much scar tissue has built up in it due to all the twisting. So future fertility on her right side is still an issue but her left side is good! The Dr also said that it was a good thing that the ovary was twisted while we were getting the ultra sound done or they might not have caught it.

We were discharged Monday late afternoon. We are home and Marra is doing great! She is camped out on our couch and not allowed to go back to school until she if off the pain meds. She is also not allowed any kind of activity until we go back to the Dr. in 3 to 4 weeks. She has three little incisions on her tummy, one on her belly button and then one on each side, each incision sight has one stitch on the inside and glue on the outside.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if this problem hasn't been going on a lot longer than just this weekend. I think back to a few years ago when Children's hospital sent us home with just a laxative, and I think of how many times over those years that Marra has complained of the same pain and we have brushed it off as constipation. We will be finding a pediatric gynecologist for Marra and monitoring her "girl parts" yearly.

This happened because of the way God made Marra, it did not happen because of anything she has done. So now what do we do? We ask God to help us understand and accept his plan for Marra.

Thank you to all that were praying for us and sent their well wishes, all the balloons and stuffed animals and text messages really help Marra feel better, as well as Scott and Me.

We saw so many kids this weekend that are a lot worse off than Marra and it broke our hearts, so we are asking that you please keep those children in your prayers as well. There were two children that especially touched our hearts, Caleb, a little boy, maybe a year and a half old, we do not know what is wrong with him but we do know he is in the hospital a lot, and we also know he did not have any family with him the entire time we were there. He has the same hair color as Kieran and the same coloring in his complection. The other was our room mate, she is a 13 year old girl named Mercadyz. She is in for a long struggle, she was life flighted to Childrens with major head, neck, and back trauma. They had to induce a coma for 9 days because she had such sever brain swelling, they also had to remove the frontal bone of her skull because of the swelling. She was just a few days out of the coma when she became our room mate, she is doing a lot better than the Dr.s expected but she has a long road ahead of her. She does not know how to walk, she has not yet gotten back her emotional sensors, she is barely talking, she was not sleeping. She will be moved to the Childrens Institute on Wednesday and will become a resident there for as long as it takes to get her back to suitable functioning. Before the accident she was a cheerleader, basketball player, and softball player. We saw her school picture from just a few months ago and she was a very cute girl. She now will have a huge scar on her head and have to wear a helmet to protect her brain. As I said above please pray for Marra but please remember all the other children as well.

Kieran Turned Two

My Bubba Boy turned 2 on Sunday. The celebrating was cut short due to Marra's hospital stay, but when we got home yesterday he got to open his gifts from Mommy and Daddy, a bike with Elmo helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. He has been living in the helmet and pads since he opened them. I will post pics at a later date.

Easter this year is: Sunday March 23, 2008

As you may know, Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.

Found out a couple of things you might be interested in!

Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) but that is pretty rare. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:

The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2160. The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

And I have bronchitis and ear infections, possibly the flu.

Kier Boy

All is well with the Kier boy.

His surgery took only about 15 minutes and then he was sleeping in recovery for about 40 minutes and then Scott and I got to go back with him when he woke up for about 25 minutes until they said he could go home.

But he is doing well!

I have a sonogram and an OB appointment on Friday, and NO we will not be finding out if we are having a boy or a girl, we like to be surprised.

So now Scott has strep throat!! Kieran is cutting upper molars, and I am going crazy with all this maddness that is my life!!

We went sled riding on Saturday evening at my Mom and Dad's house. It was Kieran's first time, he says it's cars not sled riding. Good times were had by all. Here are a few pics.

Well just like his sister before him, Kieran will be getting tubes in his ears. He has had almost a dozen ear infections since July so we scheduled the surgery yesterday. March 3rd is the day, so just please keep him in your prayers that day.

Marra has had strep throat several times since September, if she ends up getting it again her tonsils might need to come out as well.

I guess since I was such a problem child it's only fitting that I have problem children.

Other than that we are doing wonderfully. Marra is still getting 100% on all her spelling tests and getting all As on her last two report cards. Kieran is talking more and more each day, some of the things that come out of his mouth are crazy. One of his favorite words is "Dude". Marra is still doing well with cheerleading, last Saturday she attained a new stunting skill called a twist down, well she's had this from a lower level stunt but she finally got it from an extended stunt, so another words, she is standing on two girls hands, these girls have their arms extended over their heads, they throw her a little higher in the air and she does a full 360 degree turn in the air before they catch her. Kieran is a dancing fool, any time he hears any music he stops what he is doing and starts boogying, I have never seen a child his age move so many body parts at one time.

Other than feeling like we are constantly sick, life is good at the Mizikar house.

New Post, I know...it's about time

Hello to all-
It has been a while since I lasted posted and even longer since I posted something with substance.

We Mizikars are doing well. Marra turned 7 in Jan. It's hard to believe my little girl is 7, I know people say that all the time but it's true. Kieran will be 2 in May, 2 already. We are expecting our 3rd in early July! Scott is still teaching 4th grade and looking for a principal position. We are both still coaching at Gymsport with Marra cheering on 2 of our competitive cheer teams.

Kieran is such a Monster. No one believes me when I say this, "Oh no that sweet little boy can't be a monster". But let me tell you he is as rotten as he is sweet.

Over Christmas break Scott and I moved the kids bedroom to the bigger of the two extra rooms and fixed up their old room into a computer room. Well yesterday Marra and Kieran were playing up stairs in their bedroom and the computer room. Scott and I were up and down doing some house work. We both ended up on the main floor of the house together so the kids were upstairs by themselves, not even 5 minutes later Marra comes down stairs "Kieran has nail polish and he got it opened"
By the time we got up stairs he had successfully pained part of the wall, computer stand, and carpeting, along with getting it all through his hair and all over his body.

I'v always been told boys are so different from girls. Having only a girl for 5 and a half years, I didn't really understand the true meaning of this statement. Yes I have 4 nephews that I spend a good amount of time with, but nothing prepared me for Kieran. He is a monster of his own kind. So full of energy and rotten to the core. Halo held up by devil horns. That is my little boy.

Earlier today we were watching TV together. He gets off my lap, goes and turn off the Tv, walks back over to me with his "kissy" face for me to give him kisses, then walks back over to the TV stand and turns on the radio so he can dance.

He then turns to me and yells "Mamba" (this is his name for me when he's really excited) and does a little jig. Which means, "Mama, dance with me". Then walks back over to me with his "kissy" face again, for more kisses.

I had the camera with me on the couch, trying to get a picture of his "kissy" face, so I documented the entire thing, as I was taking pictures he tried to steal the camera from me.

Oh so rotten but so sweet too. Maybe he's like the one character on Heroes with the alter ego? That's some food for thought.

We got the kids pictures taken on Friday.

Marra is 6 and a half and Kieran is 16 months.

Kieran was a total monster as you might be able to tell by some of the pics and Marra still wasn't 100% after being sick all week. Oh well, those are the things you remember most so why not have pictures to keep those memories fresh :)

Post Card Mania

Marra's class is doing a long term Social Studies project. They will be comparing and reading various maps, including maps of the United States. As part of their lesson they would like to collect post cards from as many states as possible. If you live in a different state than us, or if you will be traveling to a different state please grab a post card and send it to Marra's class. You don't have to put a long message, or any message at all, although it would be nice if you put your name, and relationship to Marra.

Just thought I'd share with you what Scott, Marra, and I have been doing with our time.

This weekend I took some pics of the gymnasts and cheerleaders at the gym we are at. I still have to do pics for Marra's team, and I will post them once I have them done.

On October 20th the gym will be hosting a Night at the Races. If you are able to come we would love to have you join us, tickets are $15/person. If you are unable to come but would still like to help our fundrasier, we have "horses" available to purchase, $10/horse, and if your horse wins you can still win money even if you aren't in attendance that night. If any of this interestes you please e-mail me or Scott and we'll give you more details. This is for the 21 and over crowd, although I've never been to one I am told they are loads of fun and I am very excited to go this year!!

Well Marra started school on August 30. But this week she decided it would be fun to miss the whole week.
Or not so much...
My poor little girl has a double ear infection and strep throat. And to top that off on Monday I recieved a grade two concussion during cheerleading practice and I am still feeling a little loopy from that.
What a great pair we are this week. But we are just going along with the standard set by my nephew, Elijah last week. He had his first ever asthma attack that landed him in the hospital over night. They are still trying to figure out how to get things under controll for him.
So please remember my family in your prayers, not just the Mizikars but the Thompsons as well.

First Post: End of summer

So this is my first post...

I decided this is an easier way of doing things than sending out "update e-mails" every time one of my kids does something especially cute.

As summer vacation comes to a close, unlike most parents, I am saddened to see Marra go back to school. Summer was a lot of fun this year.

We just got back from a week of sun and sand south of Myrtle Beach in Litchfield Beach/Pawley's Island. The week was spent not only with hubby/Scott, daughter/Marra, and son/Kieran, but also with my mom/Mama Lou, dad/Pappy Jim, sister/Bre, brother in law/Adam, their three boys Elijah,Peanut, and Jo-Jo, my sister in law/Kelly and two of her kids Ethan and Alanna.

The week went by way too fast and now that we are home we have been slapped with the reality of the real world, School is starting.

Marra is recovering from her week at the beach by sitting in front of the TV and watching whatever she wants. Marra was an only child for 5 years, this past year has been a big change for her learning to share mommy and daddy with Kieran, so a week of sharing everything with 6 other kids took it's toll on Princess Marra.

Kieran has spent the last few days carrying around a play sword and making swooshing sounds with it, as well as trying to rough up his sister more than he did before we left for vacation. Kieran has spent the first year of his life primarily with females, with having a big sister and all the cheerleaders. The week at the beach was spent getting roughed up by his 4 boy cousins and "fighting" with uncle Adam and Daddy as well as watching many sword fights. It was good for my boy, gotta toughen him up a bit!

So as we end the summer of 07, my little princess is becoming a big first grader, and my baby is turning into a real boy... sigh.
